EU stops states acting over abuse of Schengen

For the first time, it will be possible for EU inspection teams to make unannounced visits to monitor any attempt to introduce illegal border checks at internal borders within Schengen. New rules laying down common procedures and deadlines for handling asylum applications and basic rights for asylum seekers arriving in the EU were endorsed by Parliament on Wednesday.

After the confirmation by the European Commission of a temporary customs duties application on those solar panels produced by China, the giant of the Asian economy replies through a clear reprisal against the Common Market. Beijing's government has actually announced its intention to start an anti-dumping inquiry involving the wine made in UE an imported by itself. In this way; it aims at destabilizing the European wine industry  and especially the main winemakers, France and Italy.

"Una riforma di Schengen è sempre più urgente e necessaria, ma quella approvata oggi dal Palamento UE non serve praticamente a nulla, anzi rischia di essere addirittura peggiorativa. Si tratta sostanzialmente dell'ennesimo inciucio tra i Paesi del Nord Europa e la Commissione UE, che non porta nessun tipo di beneficio all’Italia". Così l'Europarlamentare leghista Mara Bizzotto, responsabile federale del dipartimento Europa della Lega Nord, commenta il via libera del Parlamento Europeo alla riforma di Schengen.
