In a televised interview British Prime Minister David Cameron stressed once again last Monday that he would like to change Britain's role in the EU in a fundamental way, but that he does not want the UK to exit the Union. EFD members of the UKIP Paul Nuttall and Mike Nattrass have serious reasons to doubt that it will actually come to a referendum.

European parliament adopted by a strong majority Wednesday proposals on a financial transaction tax (FTT)which has been bitterly opposed by Britain. Parliament approved the tax rates proposed by the Commission, 0.1 percent for transactions of shares and bonds, and 0.01 percent for derivatives.
