Brexit or not Brexit ?

Brexit or not Brexit ?

In a televised interview British Prime Minister David Cameron stressed once again last Monday that he would like to change Britain's role in the EU in a fundamental way, but that he does not want the UK to exit the Union. EFD members of the UKIP Paul Nuttall and Mike Nattrass have serious reasons to doubt that it will actually come to a referendum.

Reactions after the EU Nobel Ceremony

Reactions after the EU Nobel Ceremony

Schengen policy : "The only place where the Democracy works is in the Member States"

Schengen policy :

The European parliament blocked talks with EU nations on five draft laws Thursday to protest Schengen reform. ECJ verdict :

"No, Mr. Barroso, EU shall never become a federal state" says Morten Messerschmidt

This Wednesday Commission President Barroso held his "State of the Union-speech". You would imagine that this would be a rather painful task. To evaluate the status of EU 2012 is not to be taken lightly:  The Euro has devastated the economies; the open borders has created a safe haven for the criminals; and for the sixteenth time the Court of Auditors has declared that they were not able to sign of the budget.

Morten Messershmidt : dissenting opinions would “contribute to the quality of the decisions” of the European Court of Justice

Vice chairman of the AFCO Committee Morten Messershmidt, Member of the EFD Group is the author of a Report, adopted by this Committee, on the proposal for a regulation amending the Statute of the Court of Justice of the European Union. One of his propositions is to allow dissenting opinions in the ECJ, as it exists and work for example in the Supreme Court of the US or the Court of Human rights in Strasbourg. He stresses why this reform is more than necessary in the highest European jurisdiction and the impact on the quality and the authority of its decisions.

Danish elections : towards a fragile government

Danish elections : towards a fragile government

The Left did fairly well in today's election in Denmark on 15th September, and the Social Democrats without winning, will be able to form the next government. The Danish People’s Party, which Mep Morten Messershmidt is member, will be a "tough opposition".
