Kiev and the EU are negotiating an association agreement with an ambitious business component. The Europeans, however, refuse to sign and ratify as the issue of "political trials" against the opponent and other opponents will not be resolved.

Vice chairman of the AFCO Committee Morten Messershmidt, Member of the EFD Group is the author of a Report, adopted by this Committee, on the proposal for a regulation amending the Statute of the Court of Justice of the European Union. One of his propositions is to allow dissenting opinions in the ECJ, as it exists and work for example in the Supreme Court of the US or the Court of Human rights in Strasbourg. He stresses why this reform is more than necessary in the highest European jurisdiction and the impact on the quality and the authority of its decisions.
