The European Parliament in Strasbourg has demanded on Wednesday further negotiations on the EU's multi-year budget, after national governments leaders agreed to a cut of 3.3%. UKIP MEP Roger Helmer, Member of the EFD Group, advocating for taxpayers, explains why he prefers a EU Budget with cuts than the increases asked by the majority of the MEPs.

A jump into the budgetary federalism would imply that the fiscal policies and expenses of the Member States in the Federation are controlled by the federal "government", in this case by the European Commission. But federalism also supposes significant budgetary transfers that exist elsewhere in the federal States.

MEP Claudio Morganti (Lega Nord, EFD Group) submitted in Strasbourg six amendments to the 2013 EU Budget proposing a reduction or suppression of certain budgetary lines.He proposes to make economies on budgetary lines related to EU Expenditure on publication, information and participation in public events, the Parlamentarium (European Parliament Visitors' Centre in Brussels), as well as Entertainment and representation expenses. 

The youngsters of the LAOS, the Greek party member of the EFD Group (Niki Tzavela and Nicolaos Salavrakos, MEPs) were welcome on Wednesday 21 in the European Parliament.

The Parliament must aim to a huge reduction of expenses and set its main priorities. Moreover, it’s important to carefully valuate how European funds are used in order to prevent what has been happening in the south of Italy.
